Annie Leibovitz was the last person to photograph John Lennon. Five hours after photographing him he was killed. Annie promised John that this photo would make the front cover of Rollingstone. The next issue it did just that, but with no headline, because there was no need to explain what had happened and what everyone would be talking about. The photograph was meant to show just how much love there was between Lennon and Yoko.
OMG This is got to be one of my most favorite Rolling Stone covers. I don’t even read this magazine, but respected it for its long history and reputation. This photo is priceless, not even thousands words, or millions, even billions, oh hell beyond the comprehension of the Universe of what this butt naked man has done for the millions of followers and respectful patrons in the music industry.
This is a photo of a man in his simplest form expressing his love to the lovely companion regardless of sex, gender, and race. This is the same man mere hours before his own assassination, has no expression of fear of death. This is the most beautiful human being can ever get to be, because his soul is now part of his body, all into one, not trapped inside.
This is John’s last message to humanity. A last chance for redemption from our own flaws and mistakes. Please take it to your own heart and for your future children.
